Parts of a Hookah – The Water Jar

One of the most essential pieces of a hookah is the water jar. A hookah will need a water jar in order to operate to the best of its ability. The water jar is located underneath the hookah and is a container that filters the smoke through water before going through the hose.

Benefits

Using a water jar to filter the hookah smoke will allow the smoke to get moister and cools the smoke down. There are many benefits to using water filtration with your hookah. Some people claim that it will eliminate some of the harmful contents but the amount that it actually filters out is not substantial.

The biggest benefit of having a water jar would be that it cools the smoke down and makes it easier to inhale. If you have a water jar with your hookah you will probably find it much easier to inhale the smoke and probably won’t even cough.

In order for this to work properly the water level in the water jar has to bypass the low point of the body tube so the smoke can fully pass through the water. Some people will use different liquids instead of water inside the container. You could use fruit juice, spirit juice, alcohol, and certain other liquids in the water jar to let the hookah smoke filter through. You can also place ice in the bottom of the water jar to substantially cool down the smoke and make it even smoother and easier to inhale.
