Hookahs in Turkey

Hookahs are used to smoke tobacco, cannabis, and other products in Turkey regularly. While Turkey is not a country known for hookahs being very popular there still a good portion of the population that uses hookahs. Just like any other country which allows the usage of hookahs you will find hookah businesses within the larger cities.

Usually hookahs are used in Turkey socially and are mostly used either at home while with guests or at a hookah bar or café with a group of people. There are hookah bars and cafes in most cities of Turkey and the hookah is usually provided with a non-alcoholic beverage. Tea is the drink of choice for most people visiting a hookah café. The hookah is usually used right after a meal as an alternative to a cigarette.

In the larger cities of Turkey (Istanbul, Izmir, Adana, and Ankara) there are restaurants which will offer you a combo deal consisting of your dinner, a beverage (can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic), Turkish coffee, and a hookah setup.

In turkey it is considered to be a leisure activity to use a hookah and especially so to use one on a regular basis. Some hookah cafes in Turkey will also let you watch sports games, TV shows, and even movies while socializing and using a hookah to smoke with.
