Parts of a Hookah – The Body, Gasket, and Valve
The hookah consists of five or six major components which are worth mentioning and going into detail about their importance. Of those three main components are the body, gasket, and valve. Each places a major role in keeping the hookah working properly.
The Body
The hookah body is constructed with a hollow tube which is connected to a gasket at the bottom. Some hookahs have a container on the top of the body which is used to hold ice to make the smoke cool and easier to inhale. The ice feature is also available with glass bongs for marijuana and is very popular as it almost makes smoking even harsh tobacco cough-free.
The Gasket
The gasket is located at the bottom of the body and contains at least one opening for a hose to plug into. Some hookahs will have gaskets with multiple openings which makes it possible to hook up multiple hoses to the hookah. There may also be a second opening used for a valve. The gasket also works to seal together the body and water jar.
The Valve
This will be located on the gasket and is a separate opening from those for a hose or multiple hoses. The valve is used to clear the smoke out of the water jar instead of using the hose.
