Hookahs in Movies – Star Wars

As hookahs have gained popularity in the last few decades they have also been spotted in various films and have been seen being used by various celebrities as well. One movie you can notice a hookah being used in is Star Wars and this is definitely the most notable film with hookah use in it.

Jabba the Hutt

Without a doubt Jabba the Hutt is one of the most well known hookah users within pop culture and whenever you see him in film or pictures he will likely be hand and hand with a hookah. In 1983 action figures for the “Return of the Jedi” set were released and the Jabba the Hutt kit came with a small plastic hookah. Just imagine loads of little kids were placing the plastic hookah hose inside the action figures mouth as they’ve seen him acting out in film and pictures many times before.

The hookah Jabba the Hutt uses consists of a remarkable design. The most intriguing part of the hookah would be the feeding bowl he has below the smoke chamber. Inside the feeding owl he would have creatures that he would eat. Most of the time you would probably notice a frog in the feeding bowl.
Jabba would regularly gather around with his other Hutts and smoke from the hookah but Jabba is not the only character in Star Wars that has touched a hookah. Dannik Jerriko can be spotted when Obi-wan and his group enter the Cantina during Star Wars Episode IV: A new Hope.

While he wasn’t a major character in the movie you can see he is holding a long hose and has it in his mouth. Just like Jabba he has his own action figure which was released in 2005 and he has the hookah connected to his belt with the hose in hand.
