Hookahs in Mexico

In the last few years Mexico has started to become a place where hookahs are used at various establishments. There have been many hookah bars opened in Mexico in the last decade and there is a large market for hookah businesses in the country. Not only are there many hookah bars but there are also hookah cafes located inside certain night clubs which also serve alcohol to their customers. Hookah businesses are most common in Santa Fe and Condesa but are found in other entertaining areas in Mexico City as well.

The popularity of hookah businesses and the use of hookahs in Mexico are continuously on the rise and have grown tremendously in the last few years. The popularity growth of hookah in Mexico could also be related to the many families from the Middle East that immigrated to Mexico in recent years.

Hookah smoking traditions in Mexico don’t really exist but in the Middle East there are some traditions due to how casual hookahs are in that area of the world. In Mexico hookahs are mostly only used late night and are usually filtered with an alcoholic beverage like vodka or tequila instead of being filtered with water, especially when being used in a hookah café located inside a night club.
