Hookah bars (also known as shisha bars, hookah lounges, and hookah cafes) are local establishments where people of all backgrounds go to relax and smoke hookah both alone and socially. The hookah bars offer hookahs to their customers which are usually rented out based on your visit and most hookah bars supply the shisha tobacco and all supplies needed for the hookah session.

Popularity of Hookah Cafes

Hookah businesses are continuing to open in massive numbers. There was a large increase in hookah bars about ten years ago but when the anti-smoking laws occurred it damaged the hookah bar business substantially. There are still many countries which allow hookah bars and they are still easy to find in large cities.

Some hookah lounges were made primarily to profit the owner and are just open for hookah customers but others were originally tea shops and other establishments but later added on hookahs as well. In the Middle East you can find many hookah cafes ran by those with a cultural background of hookah use. Now many hookah lounges are opened up and a large increase of hookah establishments has occurred in North America and Europe within the last ten years.

If you want to go to a hookah bar at some point and you live in a city with a population of at least around one hundred thousand you probably have at least one hookah bar in your area. Just do some hunting and you can probably find a hookah lounge assuming your city isn’t on lockdown from indoor smoking in public buildings.
