Hookahs in France
The popularity of hookahs in France has become almost non-existent due to the recent anti-smoking laws which made it against the law to smoke in bars, restaurants, and other public buildings. Since these laws are in effect in France it’s relatively impossible for a hookah bar to be open legally. Even with the legal issues there is still a decent crowd who use hookahs.
Popularity
The popularity of hookahs in France was rising really quickly before the smoking laws were set in place. Many tea shops (usually called “chichi bars”) opened and provided hookahs recently but these ended up getting shut down due to the recent ban on smoking in public buildings.
There may still be some hookah bars in France but the numbers are not nearly as high as they were years ago. You can still likely find various shops selling hookahs and supplies but when smoking hookahs your only option may be to buy your own instead of going to a tea shop or hookah bar to use one. With the interest in hookahs growing a lot recently it shouldn’t be too difficult for the hookah smoking community to continue to grow and still use hookahs on a regular basis in France.
