Popularity of Hookahs amongst College Students

Hookahs have gained a lot of popularity amongst college students for various reasons. Centuries ago hookahs were used for smoking opium and hashish until it became a worldwide product and then it was used for smoking tobacco as well. Up until the sixties most hookah users had a cultural attachment to hookahs but eventually everyone started experimenting with hookahs. Now people of any demographics are attracted to hookahs. Of those a large portion are college students.

Why College Students Use Hookahs

While there is no correct reason why college students are so interested in hookahs there are still a few reasons you could consider. Hookahs are comparable to bongs for marijuana but they are legal and have a coolness factor still. Those who already smoke may also want to make it more entertaining and smoking in a hookah is a lot more fun than smoking a cigarette.

Cigarettes are not smoked socially but hookah sessions occur while in groups usually. Regularly college students will sit together and smoke hookah even on college campuses as in many locations it’s not against college rules. Hookahs are also relatively cheap and you can easily buy one for $100-200 which has an intriguing design and is reliable. Overall there are many reasons why college students are attracted to hookahs and the amount of college students who use hookahs increases every year.
