How Hookah Bars Work

Hookah bars are established in many larger cities across the world. The way a hookah bar works will vary by shop but usually they are operated in a similar way. In the earlier years of hookah bars there would be workers who had the sole task of packing the hookah bowl properly and doing it right was considered a skill. Now the hookah lounges usually just provide the products you need and the rest is self-served.

What They Supply

Usually you will be given a disposable one time use mouthpiece to use with the hose when visiting the hookah lounge to keep things clean. Most hookah cafes won’t have liquor license but usually the hookah café will offer various soft drinks, beverages, and snacks.

Certain hookah cafes will also have a kitchen and may also partially be a restaurant. Some hookah cafes are even located within night clubs or bars. Anywhere that offers their customers hookahs, shisha tobacco, and somewhere to sit and use the hookah is considered to be a hookah lounge.

Since laws have been set in place in many areas across the world that doesn’t allow people to smoke tobacco inside public buildings some hookah bars have been forced to close down. Other hookah bars have gotten more creative and decided to just offer herbal shisha (contains no tar, tobacco, or nicotine) and this is a legal product to smoke inside public buildings which you can’t smoke tobacco in.
